Speaker: Seán Healy, Ph.D.

Bio: Dr. Healy received his Master’s in Adapted Physical Activity from KU Leuven in Belgium and graduated with high honor and distinction. He then went on to receive his Ed.D in Adapted Physical Education at the University of Virginia. While in school he was a student representative for the International Federation of Adapted Physical Activity. He has published his research in journals such as British Journal of Learning Disabilities and The Physical Educator. He has presented his research and run workshops at numerous national and international conferences. He is the cofounder of Adapt it Sport which is a non-profit that provides workshops and consultations to individuals, school districts, organizations, and national and international conferences related to adapted sports equipment. 

Research: Dr. Healy’s research focuses on increasing physical activity participation of people with disabilities by understanding the social and ecological determinants of physical activity and then establishing effective resources to allow physical educators and practitioners to implement interventions.
