Amanda Hahn
Associate Professor
Dr. Hahn received her PhD in psychology & neuroscience from the University of St Andrews in 2013, where she worked with Dr Dave Perrett in the Perception Lab. She received her undergraduate degrees in biology (BS) and psychology (BA) from the University of California, Irvine and a Master's degree in Experimental Psychology from Western Washington University. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship investigating the psychological effects of hormonal contraceptives in the Face Research Lab with Drs. Ben Jones and Lisa DeBruine at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. Dr. Hahn is currently an Associate Professor of Psychology at Cal Poly Humboldt, a board member for the International Society for Human Ethology, and is an affiliate member of the Face Research Lab at the University of Glasgow.
Dr Hahn's research focuses on the neurobiological basis of human behavior and social perceptions, with a particular emphasis on how hormones regulate responses to infant cues. She runs the Behavioral Endocrinology Research Lab (BERL).
Dr Hahn primarily teaches courses in neuroscience and the Academic Research Master's program. She brings her passion for research into all of these courses, with a focus on reading and understanding empirical research studies. She is dedicated to providing her students with the tools that they need to be "critical consumers of science".
