Kisasi Mance Award for Overcoming Adversity

The Kisasi Mance Award for Overcoming Adversity honors Kisasi's memory and aims to support a full-time student studying Psychology and working diligently to turn their life around. This award is for students with sophomore status (between 30-59 units completed by May 2024) and an overall GPA of 3.0. Students should have a clear judicial and disciplinary record the semester prior to application. 

Award: $1000

Deadline: Has been extended to March 29, 2024

To apply, use this google form to submit application information and a 500 word essay on how you have overcome adversity in your life. How you have turned a negative experience into positive contributions to the campus and/or to your community.

Chester Collins Scholarship

The Dr. Chester Collins Memorial Psychology Scholarship is awarded to full-time graduate or undergraduate Psychology majors who have shown evidence of involvement in and commitment to the discipline of psychology, and who have a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA. Amounts and numbers of scholarships are estimates, dependent on funding.

Award: $1000 Undergraduate, $1500 Graduate 

Deadline: April 15

To apply, please visit the Humboldt Financial Aid website and complete their scholarship application form as well as an essay describing involvement in and commitment to the discipline of psychology. Evidence may be in, but not limited to, research, community work, employment history, etc.

 

Gardner Assistantship

Undergraduate students who are working in a research lab in the Psychology Department at Cal Poly Humboldt may apply for a paid research assistantship. The goal of this assistantship is to provide undergraduate students seeking graduate degrees with financial support and research experience to help them prepare for their desired graduate/professional programs.

Award: ~$4,500  (note 15-20 hours of paid work per week is required to incur the total award)

Deadline: October 20
